Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but an encouraging word makes it glad. Proverbs 12:25(AMP)

Through the years of me sharing the ups and downs of my cancer diagnosis, I’ve received thousands of encouraging letters from so many of you all over the world. What an honor! Each time I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for a community that cares about me enough to pray and affirm who God has made me to be. It’s almost like getting to go to your own funeral and hear the things people would say. Beautiful.

Through every affirmation and encouragement, I felt more and more alive. You spoke life into my bones. Because I am made in the image of God, your affirmations really highlighted the beauty of God through me.

This all made me think…who are the people in my life that I could encourage even if they aren’t in the midst of some huge catastrophe?

What would happen if we did that as a general practice for others? How many people do we all know that need an affirmation or some kind of encouragement today? Yes this is so simple and on the edge of extremely cheesy, but let’s try it. Encourage/affirm one or a few people today. Random. No strings attached. Face to face; text; call; FB, MS (MySpace?:)…

Do this for someone that doesn’t have 3 new tumors …why do we/I hold back this gift of life?

Did you do it? How’d it go?

Were you on the affirming side?
